TRIBUTE ALBUM: Drink To Bones That Turn To Dust

In July of 2002, Spud and Mad Dog (then known as "Bro") were travelling to Lancaster, PA for Octothorpe's first real live show. On the plane with us, headed to D.C. was an old acquaintence of Mad Dog's, Matt Robesch (mattro). After some catching up, we gave mattro a copy of a four-song demo CD that we had brought with us. After listening to the demo, he told us about a project he was contemplating to create an Oingo Boingo tribute album, and asked us if we would be interested in participating. Do we look stupid?
A year and a half later, we got a call from mattro asking if we were still interested. He sent us a CD of some Oingo Boingo tunes to choose from, and Spud starting arranging "Little Guns" for recording.
A year later, we were in the studio with Leland Hirschman (lelando) producing, It so happened that Blue Lang and Glenn Case were in town to play a show with MC Frontalot (with Spud on keyboard and horn), and we were all practicing for the show at Octothorpe Studios. We worked up Little Guns as well, and we got them into the studio with us.

In March of 2005, Octothorpe Studios was broken into and the band lost most of their recording and performance gear. From April 2 through April 9, 2005, over 20 artists from songfight.org came together in support of Octothorpe by putting on this virtual festival. We hope that you enjoy it as much as we did.
John Schuh helped us practice for these shows and played guitar and bass with us in Seattle, Crash was at the keyboard in Portland and Seattle, John MacLandress played trumpet in Seattle, Albatross played bass and Rabid Garfunkel contributed guitar in Portland, Spokane and Moscow, and Glenn Case stood in on keyboards in Spokane and Moscow. This version was recorded at Brooklyn Nights in Spokane.
08/13/05 at the Somerville City Club in Somerville, Massachusetts. Featuring fluffy on guitar, Ken on drums, and the Sober Irishman on mandolin. Stubs even stepped in on cowbell!
From a show at the Jewelbox Theater on September 12, 2004. Octothorpe is joined by Leaf on the drums throughout the set, and Glenn Case on guitar for the last several numbers. Sound from a digital video recording by Glenn. Sadly, we cannot post our most excellent performance of Tiny Guns by Oingo Boingo, but watch for it on an upcoming CD!
06/19/04 at the Church of the Friendly Ghost in Austin Texas. Guests included Dr. Worm, Glenn Case, Hoblit, fluffy, and the Sober Irishman, among others.
